Best job I ever had was a three month task I had for an appraisal company. My job was to take a picture of every lot and structure in the town we were working in and mark it with a description on a list. So I just showed up with the map, camera and clipboard and just walked around a really nice NJ shore town taking pictures. House by house, block by block. Sometimes people asked me why I was doing it, sometimes the police checked me out at first. But they had my info and if people called them they'd just tell them what I was there for. Other than that, zero human contact, and just going for nice slow walks all day. Which I've always liked.

I also really enjoyed the year I spent doing mortgage processing. The process and my job was very well defined so it made it very easy for me. I need structure at work. Exact instructions and instructions on whom I speak with for what purposes. Need help with this issue, call Bill, etc. This job was very well structured in that way, and was very flexible with hours. There was no "being late". There was a monthly quota you were expected to make. If you decided to do it and could pull it off in a 30hr week, you could. Wanted a three hour lunch on a bad day? Go for it. It's also paid, what was for me, the best I've ever made by far. Not to mention was also incentive based on top pf my salary. Big bonuses. Big, very easy to obtain bonuses. And was literally a two minute drive from my apartment- two lights. This combination of factors made it impossible to beat and when I got laid off I've never been the same since in a work environment. I used to be a pretty diligent worker who really cared about his output. I'm far from that today.

Had one of those temporary kind of jobs a few months ago that I was pretty comfortable with. At the moment I'm doing a mechanic course in college so I went to work for a garage/car dealership for a couple of months just to get more experience and earn a bit of money at the same time.

My role was basically to inspect all of the cars before they went out for sale to make sure that everything was working correctly and that the cars were all in a roadworthy condition and also doing servicing and basic maintenance such as oil and filter changes, tire changes, wiper blades etc.

What a coincidence. I met my back injury in a factory and we are still married too. :P

Ha. :D
I hope you heal soon.

My favorite job so far has been working in a deli in a superstore. I had to get up at 5am, but being able to have 3 quiet hours to myself to make salads and sandwiches before the store opened was a nice change of pace.

I'm applying for a local deli at the moment. I don't know how similar it will be to the corporate gig, but I know the store gets a lot less foot traffic so that's a plus!

Food delivery. Get to relax while driving and be alone. Then when I got lost I freaked out about having to ask for help. ._.

Thanks! (I have filed for divorce).

Teaching kids - one on one - with difficulties and in need of a different thinking/work method/organization was an ok job.

The rest was hell.

Working at a medical lab doing data search and entry. I was by myself a lot, jsut had to search and input data, run reports every so often and so on. It was peaceful in the basement where I worked and if I wanted to, I could listen to the radio.

This is a really helpful topic thread since I am looking for work right now and have had such a difficult time finding a job I could do well. I have ADHD and am on the spectrum, so I get bored easily but also have a difficult time with lack of structure/predicability/reading people's minds (because that's what it feels like bosses always expect of me).
My favorite job was working at Starbucks as a barista. It was fast paced and I got to work with my hands. Writing orders on the cups meant that I never had to rely on my poor working memory, and scripted and short interaction with customers meant that I was never overwhelmed socially. I also had a manager who never minded me asking questions. Training was very thorough. I actually felt like I was prepared going into the job. If only it paid enough for me to actually save money...
I have done receptionist jobs and they were the WORST. never again...
I also worked in a warehouse filling small shipment orders. That was okay in terms of comfort level, but not very fulfilling.
I earned a degree in teaching art (since art is something I love doing and want work related to that). There is a level of predictability in that my schedule is the same almost everyday. But it was also unpredictable in terms of student behavior, which ultimately was too stressful for me. The hardest part of that job was actually lesson planning. I struggle so much with planning things. I liked that there was some freedom in terms of what I taught, but coming up with my own plans and routine was nearly impossible. If someone gave me lesson plans that were clear and detailed, I would probably be a great teacher, but I have yet to find anything like that. There are lessons online that I borrowed and that helped a lot, but it still wasn't enough to elevate my anxiety. I have no idea if I want to continue with teaching. The benefits and pay were decent. Better than any other job I've had, but I don't think I can sustain it... :?

The worst job was in bill collections. I had to make 100-200 calls each day, and it was torture.

My favorite is my current job as a county caseworker. Meetings and trainings can be tough (especially if there are more than a few people present), but many of the meetings are routine so I can go off easy scripts. Paperwork gives me some private time, and driving to homes or other sites gives me breaks from being overstimulated so I can recharge between interactions.

The only job I've ever done well at is dog and cat sitting. I love working with the animals and taking care of them.
I worked in a craft store in a temporary position and I liked it, I just don't know how good I was at it.

I do feel comfortable working as a vendor. I do have to interact with some managers at my accounts but for the most part, I get to work solitary and be my own boss. I start when I want and I finish whenever I'm done. Not set time to start or finish.
