Another "team mate" was an ass and tried to throw me under the bus. My boss was on this guy's side. Believed him, didn't even talk to me about these things, and quickly passed judgment telling me he was disappointed in me.

All this plus other things going on at work made me hate my job, and at some point I lost the desire to do anything to try to make it better. I was sick most of the time, anxious and tense, getting migraines and hardly any energy to do anything constructive for myself outside of work.

Exact same thing happened to me Rich :|

I got pretty stressed out working at WalMart. I was there for two years & the job was good in the beginning but things got a lot worse after some management changes. I didn't mind the job I was supposed to be doing when management left me alone to do it but our department got really shorthanded & management kept pulling us off to do other things & then got mad at us for being behind with the work we were supposed to be doing. I kept doing my best because I have a good work ethic but I eventually quit after getting chewed out by a manager after being given a conflicting order.

I worked in a warehouse for 8 years which was under a work program through the department of labor. Though I liked it at first I noticed that...

1. Once I started my focusing my major from general to psychology that I needed to start building some experience and the company just didn't have that.
2. My job coach was being over protected and kept trying to steer me away from even thinking about looking for a job elsewhere by being really negative.
3. My co-workers and job coach displayed some very unprofessional and inappropriate behaviors despite the fact that they were working with people who needed professional training.
4. The management, some other co-workers and the job coach bullied me. Why one of them tried to make things a living hell for me by trying to ruin my reputation and turn others against me

Despite that I managed to speak up about some of these things while even getting this job coach removed. It was when the job coach and one of my bullies left that things got better. I even made friends with one person who I still talk to today. The new job coach was more in tune for me finding work else where so I started job hunting and doing interviews right before getting laid off and was offered a better position elsewhere. I since lost that job but got one that was even better.

So hang in there. :D

Seems to me that there are people who naturally take advantage of others who are passive. You could get lucky and find a job with some good co-workers, but unfortunately we can't control who we are working with. For my recent experience I hit a crossroads where I only saw two paths forward... either stay and try to make things better, or develop an exit strategy.

In my case I eventually decided on a change in careers. Remaining in the field I was in would leave me open to constant criticism over every little detail of my work. After thinking long and hard about it I decided that with my personality I would have a better, happier life doing something else.

It's good (and bad) to know that there are others who have the same experience. I like this forum.

i had no exit strategy, having one would have required that i be a totally different human being [NT] than i am. i was freakishly lucky just to get any work in the first place. so i was stuck in the mess. it almost killed me.

I cope by cutting my hours down and just working part time. I never pick up extra days and rarely volunteer to stay over. I don't attend job social events, etc.

I have had the same experience over the years, my first job I kept from 1984 until 2007 which I really enjoyed, i started at the bottom and was promoted several times due to my reliability and punctuality, never being sick or turning up late, i ended up being the manager in charge of a cardealership in a large city, after the company was sold off after retirement of my boss it all went down hill, the new owner was a complete dick and lay down a lot of new rules and regulations which really did my head in, since then i had several jobs and one after another will come to an abrupt end sooner or later, some lasted upto 2 years but most jobs not longer than a few days or in one case just only 1hr and 35 mins, it seems that most companies can't handle/cope with people who are limited in their social capabilities, for the last few years i mainly do voluntary jobs and even there it's hard to fit in with the rest of the structure
