So I have one week to psych myself up for getting back into a working pattern again. Feeling a bit nervous as starting again in a different field after about a year and a half of being out of work. I've done some volunteering in that time and a bit of work and training, but going to be hard to get back into a full working week.

Been a frustrating time so I'm glad not having to search for a job anymore as I was getting annoyed with agencies just ignoring me. It just felt because I wasn't following a traditional career path, I was too much of an unknown, too much of a risk to even be given a chance!

Does anyone else have problems with over thinking things like this. Trying not to just focus on the issues, but feel it's important to prevent any mistakes being made and making a good impression.

Hey, I'm starting a new job too! I did a bit of part time work earlier, which helped me get back to working habits. I found I'd become a bit slow by staying at home for long - expect it to be a bit rough in the beginning, but I have to say, it's incredible how much working just a little bit has helped me with depression, even though the part time job was horrible. All in all, being pissed off is better than being depressed, by far.

Congratulations on your new job, best wishes!

Thanks underwater. I agree not having a job can be detrimental to your mental health and I have slowly seem my mood drop during my time off. Hopefully it will pick up my esteem and anxiety as I get back to working as before (although a suspect I will forever me a little more jaded than my younger self!)

Hope your new job goes well and is more fun than your part time work was.

Yeah, unfortunately cynicism is one of the byproducts of getting older

I'm sure the new job will be better, the part time thing was straight out of a cartoon. I'm glad most jobs haven't been like that.

Haha True.

Sometimes there are bad people and bad jobs, sometimes it's just finding the right fit for you.

Hoping February offers some good chances for work. There should be some security work in this region come spring. Lets hope.
