Does anyone here actually want to work?

I worked until my physical health crashed to the point where I can not work any more. That makes it difficult for me to answer the do I want to question when what is possible overrules what is wanted - my wants about working are now irrelevant so why even bother to have any.

Ideally I would be working close to home in a low-pressure role for no more than 25 hours a week.

Unfortunately it's difficult to fathom why anyone would even consider employing me now. I couldn't even complete a fairly straightforward apprenticeship for perhaps the most supportive and accommodating employer of all - the NHS.

I don't hold a degree nor do I relate well to others, and I learn new things at an unthinkably slow pace. My only hope now is that I can somehow improve my executive functioning to a level where I can be functional. I believe the elimination of gluten from my diet and the inclusion of an array of minerals and vitamins (vitamin B12, Omega 3s, gaba, L-Tyrosine etc.) have helped somewhat but I am still a complete dunce.

but then again it's hard to fake genuine interest in a job. I've taken acting classes to try to be better at it. I can kind of do it, but I feel dirty about it. It would be nice if I could go into an interview and say ---

"I'll do what you want, within reason, for fair market price. You pay and I'll do exactly what is needed of me for that pay. As long as money continues to be deposited promptly, I'll learn whatever you want me to learn and do whatever you want me to do (again, within reason)."

Even though I really want to work, I am with you here. I can't even do it personally. When I go into ask/interview about a job I don't really want it's like my mind won't let me do it. I also can't even fake if I can't do something. It feels so much like lying.

It would be nice to say that. Sadly it seems like employers want so much from you. If I can't do just one aspect of the job they won't even give me a chance.

That's jealousy. Teachers hate it when students know better than them (I know it was a theory, but similar thing). I'm pretty sure a lot of them teach just because they like knowing better than their students. I'm not saying most teachers, but a lot of them. It's kind of pathetic really.

When you are used to know better, you tend to presume you know better.

Work is really the only thing I enjoy. I have no social life, so what else am I supposed to do? Without work I would just be playing video games 24/7. I'm just worried about getting kicked out because I work very slowly because I'm so depressed and can't concentrate.

I can't wait to finish school and get a job because I like earning. I also like having a purpose and actually doing something instead of sitting around. I'm a pretty practical person. Either way, politically I think everyone has to work to survive because that's how nature works, so I would be hypocritical if I didn't want a job. Also having money is nice!

It's coming up to 3 years being unemployed, who would want to employ someone with a cv filled with gaps and volunteering in retail when I don't even want to work in retail?

plus people in US have it easy, u can get ssi just for having something as high functioning as aspergers, but here in the uk you have to have either cancer or be in a wheelchair. not fun having no income, no independence, reliance on family for food and stuff
