It used to take me two hours. An hour to get up and have breakfast and an hour to drive to work. (It usually takes me just over half that time an hour usually covers all eventualities).
I am currently finding that I really need three hours, as I need to relax on the loo for about an hour or two before I start getting ready, as if I don't I won't feel right and be nurvous and lack energy due to the nurves.

I was really glad today to hve made a mistake and went into work two hours early. It does not matter as it is the same work I do regardless so it was ok. I had been so nurvous thinking about it yesterday that I had got the wrong time in my head... Three times my Mum kept asking me throughout the day (I think her memory wasn't great) so each time I told her I was getting more and more nurvous as I had been trying to keep my mind off the next day (Today) that my day off which was supposed to be stress free was thinking about the next days work.

I absolutely hate this before I visit the dentist. I will have calmed myself down so I am in a robotic type of not thinking kode, so I can cope with driving to the dentist. And then my Mum says things like "Don't worry. You will be ok" and " You sure you have the right time for the appointment" etc... So by the time I am driving down to the dentist I am so nurvous that just driving is about all I can do... and it is always in a rush as I would have origionally been ready on time but with being nurvous with all the questions so I have to look up the time again... So it delays me as I am out of sync with my routine of calmly getting myself ready...
Is this what is meant by routine... How those on the spectrum have routines? As I don't like specific routines, but I do tend to need to give myself a certain way to get ready like an internal checklist. But doesn't everyone?

Yes. A lot of NTs are very particular about their morning routine. They seem to have to do things a certain way before work. My NT mum has always had 2 cups of coffee in the morning; one with her breakfast when she first gets up and another one after she has her shower. It's been that way for years, and always the same times too. She wouldn't want that to change, otherwise it would probably mess her up for the day. And her friends are like that about their morning routines too.

I bet that has shocked a few Aspies to death here, as many think that NTs don't have rigid routine. They do when it comes to getting up for work.

Me? I've never had a morning routine. I've always just got out of bed about 15 minutes before I had to leave the house, got dressed, used the bathroom, grabbed a biscuit or little cake to eat quickly, brushed my teeth and then leave. Even then I didn't do those in the same order.
I had baths or showers and got my lunch ready the night before. Now I work evenings so I don't even need to be up early in the morning any more. I do not miss it either. Getting up early for work often got me in an angry mood, especially during the winter when it's dark in the mornings and you've got to set off out in the cold. No matter how early I went to bed or how well I slept during the night, I still wasn't ready to wake up when my alarm went off. I think I found getting up early hard to cope with.

45 minutes to an hour...I don't really eat much in the way of breakfast so I don't usually spend time on that, but I have been trying to at least eat a cliff bar in the morning(just waiting till autumn when they release the seasonal pumpkin pie ones so I can stock up as those are my favorite). But yeah I usually bring one of those and some tea or coffee with me rather than having those before leaving.

You two must be fortunate to have the ability to just get up, quickly get ready and go..!

I suffer from pretty serious executive dysfunction most mornings. I spend anywhere from 20mins to over an hour from the time my alarm first goes off until I've stopped snoozing, have read some online social media or forums as I wake up, and am actually out of bed. The exact time depends on how tired I am and how much excitement there is online. I've been getting much better at making that checkin less stressful by removing drama, but it would be extremely difficult for me to remove the checkin entirely from my routine.

Anyway, once I'm actually up it takes me around 40 mins to use the toilet, brush my teeth, shower (longer if I wash my hair, shorter if I skip that day), get dressed, and get out the door.

If not for child labor laws, I would say 12 years is enough.

I can get through my morning "checklist" in 15 minutes. If I lose the list - I may never make it, or miss certain steps.

I don't work any more, but I need two hours before an appointment. Coffee alone takes me an hour.

It usually takes me in the neighborhood of 1/2 hour for me to get ready to leave the house for work.

I'm a slow mover. It's not that I fuss too much, I just like having time to go at my own pace. When I was working full time I didn't have my hour-long coffee, and it took me about 60-75 minutes including having a shower every morning. I have long hair so it takes quite a while to dry to style.

It's true about the hair LOL

I don't even have to comb it....that saves lots of time!

It does take 15 minutes for me to shave every two days, though.

I need time for feeding my pets too, before going out.

I live by my Google calendar. If it's not routine and not on my calendar, then it's not happening. I was really out of whack when my phone went to daylight savings before everyone else, missed a couple appts.

It takes me 20-30 min to get ready for work: eat, dress, brush --- I can get the kids out the door in that time if necessary. If I am up two hours before I leave, I'm doing other stuff for 1 hr, 30-40 min.

Morning routine in 15 minutes!? 8O
My sister does it in 10, but I really can't wrap my head around how people do this.

For me, it takes about 30 minutes to get up, handle morning hygiene (no shower), dress up, make the bed and brush my hair. After that I still need to make and eat breakfast as well as handle lunch for work. All in all, I could handle this set in about 50 minutes, but I still prefer to wake up a bit over an hour before I need to head for the bus stop. You know, in case something goes wrong, like if a button falls from my shirt I'll have the time to sew it back on or take another shirt. Most of the time I just read the extra time, though.

The bus to work takes from a bit under 30 to 50 minutes depending on the time of the year and day. Now that it's summer and lots of people are on vacation, it takes under thirty minutes (plus a little walk from the bus stop.)
