Fellow aspies help me out... I need a job..but..

Hey guys,

I'm in a situation here. I need a job because I want a car. The problem is I have had 3 jobs in retail in the past 3 years. They all didn't work out because of my social skills and my sensory issues. I am 17 almost 18 (gonna be 18 in dec).

I need a job wich is:

A. don't have to deal with public that much or too a minumum.
B. Don't have to push programs.
C. Low sensory issues.

Can someone please help me? I really want to get a car and be independent but I don't know what kind of job to get. any sugestions?

have you tried an employment agency? They helped me alot in the past. Try one out.


And if you go to unemployment agencies they may point you in the right direction.


There is soemthing for everyone. Try it out.

How about working in a library or some other public facility where most of the contact with the public is just pleasantries and nothing has to be sold?

Heh Im pretty much in your situation... what people have told me is either a comp operator, stocking shelves or any other variety of nightshift jobs...

Yeah I wanna work with data entry or in the mail room or something I'm 17 and had 3 jobs so far all were in retail and it was horrible. It didn't work out at all. I need a job for a car.

I did data entry and clerical office work for a couple semesters in college. It was pretty peaceful, and I hardly ever had to deal with anyone outside of office staff.

I worked in a chemistry lab my first year of collage. Then I got a job running a lab for the physics department. Laboratory tech jobs pay pretty well.

Another option is working n a university supply room. THese are the places that all the odd parts professors do to research stuff get stored. The stock person's job is to find or order the item and then deliver it.


Another variation on the same job is a parts clerk (machine shop, autodealership). In highschool I was a parts specialist which means that I would have to find parts for collectable (expensive) cars in the process of being restored. Whenever I found the parts the customers were so happy - no matter how expensive the bloody thing was.

Don't they also have agencies which help people with autism find employment in America?

Britain has such an agency funded by the NAS, and it is called Prospects. (I don't know how good they are, though.)

maybe you could work as a chef in a pizza place or something that would be awesome! or maybe a bakery. all you'd have to do is take people's orders!

also i bet you'd get free food haha

Your talking about a country that does not even provide basic health care to its citizens.
Britian is so far ahead of the US on this that it isn't even funny.
