At the hottopic nearest me the workers are all EXTREMELY nice and helpful. At hottopic there is also no dress code/uniforms and it's probably okay to be a bit different. I would think it better for an aspie to work at than other retail stores.

Really?

I would have chosen Best Buy.

Congrats on the job! A friend of mine was an assistant manager there while she was at school. She's sweet and atypical, and she said she liked it.

I managed the front end of a small cafe for a while and handled all the register transactions there. Using a cash register is really easy once you get the hang of it. It's all routine. And sometimes the registers have cheat-sheets if you forget what to do (like if someone pays with a check, which almost never happens these days...).

Probably one of the things you'll also have to look out for too is kids nicking stuff from the shop, but you're not "really" expected to catch anyone, just pretend like it's important.

Have fun!

nothing says awesome job like being a mall rat/minimum rage junkie for some corporation.

Well, I'm glad you can do so much better at 19 years old, but not all of us can. I push carts at my local grocery store. I'm on my feet all day for minimum wage, but it's the only place in the area that would hire me, so that's what I do.
