ride around town with a stack of resumes. go door to door, and always smile and say thank you have a nice day and ask for a buisness card. guarenteed if you are out all day, someone's gotta be interested

Poor networking skills can be very problematic. Another potential problem for Aspies is that many of us are very strict about honesty, so we are less likely to lie or exaggerate on our CVs. This hurts us immensely, as lying and exaggerating are so common as to be the norm (I have discussed this with many people and feel pretty confident making such an assertion). People expect that every CV has been "beefed up," so they assume you have less experience or are less qualified than you say you are.

I do exaggerate slightly on my resume (mainly when it comes to graduate assistantship), but yeah I won't outright lie....

I have never gotten a job I interviewed for. My brother got me my first job at a supermarket, a friend got me a job in a resteraunt for 9 years (I was tormented everyday for those 9 years), and I got my last job thru a temp services that will take anyone for the dirtiest jobs ever and I stayed with one of the companies they sent me because it was clean and one of the employees quit without notice. I spent 9 years there as the butt of every joke and insult. Every job I have been at was low paying and I constantly was putting out resumes when I was at each one. The ones I did get interviewd for the interviewer was nervous when they interviewed me.

Well.... I'd say 'No', you can't blame AS. The correct target would usually be prejudiced prospective employers - I've written to many here in Finland since I graduated and got only one call back. Because my Finnish language wasn't up to speed, I didn't get the job.

At least,I can honestly say that the prejudice issue is most likely to be the main cause of unemployment amongst Asperger-autistic people in Finland.
