I have a BA-equivalence in Applicable Psychology, with Mathematical Sciences, Archaeology and Finnish as my ab initio language, after which I took an MEd in Special Education (Psychology). Hasn't helped in getting any responses from Finnish employers but that's because they have this weird notion that only Finnish degrees are real. I did my Master's in the UK. I also did a CPSE, in which I specialised in education & organisational ethno-psychology/psycho-anthropology... that was at a Finnish polytechnic - and still it's had no positive effect.

But, then, for employment prospects if you're foreign and disabled, it's pointless trying anything: they really don't want you taking jobs from the Finnish. Even the jobs that the Finnish don't want.

I don't regret my studying, and I don't regret being here in Finland - I have a beautiful daughter here, so why should I? But also - why should employers be allowed to engage in illegal behaviour?

Because they're protecting Finnish jobs for Finnish people. Pure and simple.

I received a B.A. In humanities and psychology back in '07 and have never done a thing with it :( Still trying to pay on loans so any further formal education is out of the question.

Even with a degree though, I cant seem to understand the finer points of networking and/or having the guts to 'sell myself' ...plus I live in a small community ...hard to find decent meaningful work..

So I work as a cook - hoping for that one inspiration that will take me out of it >;D

I am graduating with a BA in May 2012, and will hopefully begin my MA in Sept 2012. I may also go further to a PhD, but I am already a "mature" student--almost 27. I love school, but I honestly have no clue what I am going to be capable of once I get my degree. I am thinking about that a lot lately....

I have a masters and I put in a full year towards a doctorate several years ago. I've been taking time off from school for various reasons, but I am determined to eventually go back and finish.

Has it helped me? Depends what you mean by "helped". It increased my wisdom, knowledge, and skills in my field exponentially, of course. But there are many unrelated reasons why I am currently struggling professionally.

I have two Master of Science degrees: one in Biostatistics, and another in Agricultural and Resource Economics. I also took a few PhD level classes in economics.

If you can get a MS or MA in statistics, then it is relatively easy to find employment as a statistician. You mind not like the work that much, and you might have to move to a different part of the country, but at least it is a job. In other fields, you pretty much aren't going to get a job unless you have a PhD.

I had a teaching assistantship when I did the first MS, and I was a US Dept of Agriculture employee when I did the second, so I didn't have to pay anything.

I have a masters in clinical psychology, just graduated a few months ago and now I am looking for work.

So far obvioulsy it is hard to say directly and work related what it has done to me, but it will always mean something in terms of self-respect that I at least managed to graduate.

I used a long time to get through university though and now I feel a bit overwhelmed and burnt out.

I just got my Bachelor's in Economics, which was (and will be) the worst mistake I've ever made in my entire life. I went through college and hated every single moment of it just to have absolutely zero job prospects (especially in my economically-depressed state).

I'm afraid though, that I'll end up having to enroll in grad school for Econ or Statistics just to avoid bankruptcy!

Master's in Political Science/Government....completely useless (even moreso than my bachelors, which is really saying something!).

Fortunately, I didn't spend any money to get it. I had a tuition waiver and I was able to pay fees and books out-of-pocket. It was just a waste of time and effort is all.
