In my last job, I worked in an office as a temp. When a permanent position came up while I was there my boss called me into an interview and basically told me that I had the job and the interview was just a formality to keep HR happy. He said the reason he was so quick to give me the job was because I just got on with my job and didn't get involved with any of the dramas created by the other women in the office (at this point he actually glanced over my shoulder and gave an exasperated look at the everyone he was talking about lol)

So I suppose our ability to focus on the job we're doing and not get involved with office politics or gossip is definitely one of our strongest points. I think we also see details that others would miss, so can contribute to the workplace by adding a different viewpoint to the average thinker.

How would WPers propose marketing our individual skills to employers.

Also, how would prospective employers know how to look to WP for employees?

I like this one.

I think dedication covers it somewhat but I see where you're coming from. Positive attitude perhaps to start but if thing go bad, it can affect that.

But how do we market to employers?

I guess we can be very detailed and keep on trying until the job is done.

My question was more aimed at the part about getting the talents of Aspies "in the door" and to the hiring manager's "yes" decision.

I don't know...all I can think of are specific job boards (like the WP job posting site you suggested, or the job board on auties.org) or job listing websites, and specialized employment agencies.

I think the biggest problem is a more general one, and has to do with public awareness and ideas about disability....it made me think of Square8's "Late Interventions" campaign, and then I imagined an altered version where there are photos of people with words about the skills autistic employees bring to the job in place of the Late Interventions text (I didn't actually imagine the words, just the visual cadence of the words as matching that of the Late Interventions text).

Yeah, that is part of the reason for me never disclosing. I have been very actively dissuaded from disclosing.
