I haven't really had a job in nearly 4 years now, and the only job I had was bagger at a grocery store. It was tolerable for a while but I got incredibly sick of it and was really depressed when I graduated community college and was still stuck with it. I've been looking for a job on and off but never really get any leads and have had my mental health interfere with the process a few times.

As far as school goes, I did really well in school through high school except for a few bumps in the road. Then I went to a 4-year college for a year and did really poorly and had problems. Then I went to community college and did a lot better but ended up with a 2-year degree in Simulation & Game Design that's useless. I don't want to go back to college since it's becoming very unreliable and I was only able to get rid of my student loans because I was found disabled and going back to school would interfere with that.

I am in a precarious situation.

A) haven't worked a full time job since about 2009. Worked scattered temp jobs but haven't worked at all for any significant period of time since last August

B) I am an independent contractor for FedEx home delivery. Haven't made any money this year even though I should be making $1500 a week

C) cannot find a job in my field due to a poor work history and no work experience past dec 2012

D) So I went back to school to take classes for electrician license only problem is I can't find a job in the field even for minimum wage because I have no experience. Even though my instructor and classmates talk About all these great job I can't find one and my not working anywhere makes me immediately dismissed as a freak

E) I don't drink but I comfort myself with adderall or amphetamine salts
I don't know what to do.

I currently have a job, though it took a very long time to find it. My husband (also aspie) has been looking for a job for over a year, as well. It is very hard out there for aspies.

I haven't worked in about 15 year and don't even plan to work again. Sometimes I think I should try to get a job and then I can't think of any place to apply where I could actually get there and do the job.

My only jobs were a paper route for 2 weeks and a cleaning job for 5 weeks.

I've been unemployed for 3 years now. The closest thing I've ever had to paid work was working as a freelancer for a TV company for 16 months back in 2005-06 and I only got that job because of people I know who worked there at the time. That was 7 years ago. I have a job interview later this week so I'm trying my best to prepare for it but it's not been easy at all.

In regards to my educational background, I always did well in creative subjects like Art and English. I struggled with maths and I still do to some extent (equations are my main weakness). I managed mostly average grades (Cs) and my degree grade was kinda average too (roughly equivalent to 2.0-3.0 GPA).

I'm currently employed...have been for many years, but when I'm out of work, I can usually expect at least 2 months to find ANY job.

Now that the economy is horrible, I'm scared to lose my job because at least in the past someone would hire me because I would show up and work...I might still find that now, but I need more than just a minimum wage job, and I've not had any luck getting chances to move into better jobs than where I am now...and I've been trying for YEARS to get something better.

Well, the last time I had to look for work was back around 2004.

Still, my sister could find a job in days of being fired. I needed months because I couldn't connect well in interviews. With the way things are now, I'd be terrified of having to find a job while unemployed. I can only imagine the competition is much worse today.

Indeed when my sister started having problems finding a job (forget getting a good job), I was really scared for what might happen for me. Granted, she's not as young or thin as she used to be, but still...she could get fired from a good job and find another job in days. If she has problems finding a job, it doesn't bode well for my chances.

Employed, only as a result of a tireless effort by several people, thanks.
