shared diagnosis with employer today
When I filled out the ADA form for my employer, I expected them to ask for some kind of medical confirmation ... but they never did. There's been a lot of problems, though, since I did this. I think my direct supervisor think AS is "acting," so that's the number one problem I face. At least the HR department is more sensitive to the issue, but even those people have not been exactly understanding and helpful. If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't have disclosed to my employer that I have AS. It's gone very badly.
