For the drug users, what to say at the job interview.
I'm in the army, I'm in the process of getting out. We have tons of people being kicked out for failing drug tests. Ten percent of every company has to be tested every month. Many drugs won't show up on tests (for the most part only common drugs show up). Theres also an issue of what kind of drug test were talking about?
From the topic it sounds like were mostly talking about urinalysis, although other tests such as those using a persons hair go farther back they can be less accurate. Urinalysis is the most common but it can be beaten.
Although Marijuana can stay in your system for months other drugs such as Ex only stay in your system for a few days. You can take Ex on friday and pass a urinalysis on monday if you've got a fast metabolism. Making Ex one of the most popular drugs I've seen in the army (although its rarely talked about and none of the higher ups know there are a lot of people in my company that use or deal Ex).
I think the whole system is rather funny. Marijuana is outlawed because its said to be a gateway drug, but outlawing it encourages use of other often more dangerous drugs. I believe Cocane gets out of your system in a few days also.
Everyone makes a big deal about Marijuana, but other more dangerous drugs like ex, meth, cocane, they get out of your system in days. Believe it or not I'm not a frequent drug user I just find the subject interesting. I've tried a few drugs awhile back but I felt almost none of the effects they were supposed to have (my theory is that aspergers may have something to do with it). I've never gotten over that, people rant and rave about some of this stuff but I try it and I really don't understand why.
If I really wanted the job I would do it. I'm on a lot of prescribtion meds. Including GHB (xyrem) and opoids and stimulants. Now I'm not sure if all of them would sure up on the test. And I know I could just submit a list of prescriptions. But the issue with that is that it really isn't my employers buisiness what prescriptions I take or why. I know they aren't supposed to consider those things, but they probably do. So I would be concerned that when they saw the big list of medications and especially some of the stuff I take for conditions like narcolepsy and neuropathic pain (never mind that I take the stuff so I can function and do things like work) they would assume I wouldn't be able to handle the job. Or that my being on meds meant certain things about me. So if I did have to take a test for a job I would just hope that my list doesn't cause me troubles. But I don't like the idea of it.
