4 to 6 years is several lifetimes in IT. No matter what you do, keeping current on what is developing now is important. Bill Gates recently said all media is moving to the web within five years. It will mean thousands of new content jobs. It will become narrow casting, with a full staff on the Lego Channel, and it is about time!
The big three will become the top 1,000, and knowing how to keep the beast running, and do the news, is better than good hair.
Educate yourself for the field, not the job. Change is hard on the limited, easy on the leaders. Like anything, knowing it from the ground up is best.
