What does management actually DO in their jobs?
My direct manager is in charge of a 40 person team over 4 countries, 3 continents. Guy works crazy hours; he's often in before 7 AM and stays past 10 PM to teleconference with our teams across the world. Has to do 1:1 meetings with ~20 people in our local office, every single week. Is essentially the architect who also determines the direction of our team in the future. Worked the same 'grunt work' that we did before being promoted over a long career at the company. Hardest working, most on task person I've seen.
To be honest I've never worked under management, whether its of my direct supervisor or above that showed laziness, lack of hard work or dedication. Nor have they lacked intelligence, common sense, or whatnot. Often they were the best at their job before being promoted and do their best in their new role.

On a more local level, Focus Professional Services is a consulting organization based in Vancouver, Canada that attempts to hire people on the spectrum to act as IT consultants. They're a very new organization.
For those of us in Vancouver, there is an Aspies Meetup group; pm me if you're interested. I look forward to seeing anyone in Vancouver either in person or in a larger gathering!
