You can never be too interested. I wrote earlier that you shouldn't send in an extra application, but what you are doing isn't wrong. It is important to play every single card you have: If you know people who work at the job, talk to them. You can also go online and post a profile picture of yourself with an animal, just in case your new manager should Google you.
Job desperation can have many faces: You can be super nervous at the job interview and you can talk too much about yourself. You can also be so poor that you are ready to take any job and some bosses take advantage of that. And you don't appear desperate at all. In fact, having that slightly nervous feeling sounds very normal.

My social media pages i made sure are happy and have pictures of my bird book collection in the profile page. I could ask someone working there some questions
