It's not rent-free... The issue is the money to pay for the initial rent and getting there... I talked to one of my cousins and he told me to give up.

You'll find a way!

Do you belong to a local church? They might be able to give you a moving loan (ask for a loan rather than a gift, to be repaid from your salary which will start soon.) If you can sell a few replaceable belongings to raise part of the money first that will demonstrate your serious intentions to anyone who may be able to help.

She gets a stipend, and a $5,500 payment at the end of her service, if I’m not mistaken.

Why not start a “fund me”?

She would be hard-pressed to pay back a loan before a year has elapsed.
