Pandora--I'm being brutally honest. I would love to coddle the original poster; but, in this situation, that isn't going to be helpful. His actions were unacceptable. And while the original poster may have AS, it doesn't excuse his behavior either.

Well, I agree that the situation could have been handled better. But, the co-worker seems to have been a very rude person and nothing happened to her. She didn't seem to be a very good team player.

Pandora--She didn't smash the pickles or engage in what could be construed as violent behavior. That's why she wasn't fired.

I agree with both sides of the arguement here. Getting pissed off and throwing something is not, in and of itself, an aspie trait, however, the potential for it is. I don't think we have enough information to judge the other employe; a lot depends on whether it was a request or a demand (meaning did he say please) and if it was a demand did he have any right to make a demand. If it was a request, I would agree it wasn't too much to ask, but one must realise that saying [if you] please means you don't have to if you don't want to. In any event, I hope the OP realises that an NT would be fired for that too.

It happens to me all the time. The company I work for seems to have the policy that everything has to be done is the stupidest way possible and that really annoys me. I can usually deal with it by finding something else that needs to be done and doing it by myself, but it annoys my coworkers, that I will not join in their stupidity and the supervisors usually side with them.

I can usually feel a meltdown coming, and then I run. I go out into the parking lot and start talking to the people that are pissing me off while they are still in the shop. I find that to be far superior than actually talking to them because if I said it to them (1) they wouldn't listen to me anyway so there would be no point to it and (2) they would argue with me which would only make it worse. This way I get it all off my chest and the only downside is that they think that I'm strange for talking to myself. But I am strange, they are actually right about that.

Yeah, but it was probably her fault he lost his temper.

Pandora--While I agree that the woman is why the original poster may have lost his temper, it doesn't justify his actions.

Well, it depends how he asked her in the first place and how she responded but I know I've felt like popping somebody when I've had a bad day and I've asked them to do something little to help me and they've responded rudely "do it yourself". I've held it together for a bit but then I go into the toilets and cry.

If the lady said something like "I'm sorry but I don't have time right now", smashing the pickles would have been an overkill but I get the impression she was a lot more blunt than that.

I meant to add that it's not as if I would ever ask anybody to do the labours of Hercules. I prefer to do things myself but there are times when I really need assistance and to have it refused then is really hard to take.

Anyway, it's probably a moot point now as the original poster has now found a better job, and I for one am happy for him that he has.

Here's another tip, sue 'em!

This is discriminatory against him... he definitely has a case here...

worst that they could have legally done is docked his pay for the cost to replace that entire case of pickles... but total termination like this is definitely discriminatory...

LAWSUIT LAWSUIT LAWSUIT!! !

WAL-MART IN A MIRROR SPELLS TRAM-LAW

hmm... maybe that says something... riding a tram filled with LAWYERS SUING YOU!! !

But you deserved to be fired. You knew that you weren't supposed to do that. You can't use AS as an excuse to justify your own shortcomings. And you aren't going to get disability or any other government welfare benefit because you aren't disabled enough not to work.

troll?

Sounds like you have both matured and gotten a second chance, which is great to hear! :)
