And if you’re thinking of working a near minimum wage job just to be back to work and making some money vs none until you can land a higher paying job again but you just hate hate HATE the idea of telling a little white lie to a new employer that you intend to stick around Lon term even though you know when you’re given a better shot you’re gonna jump all over it.. then maybe consider working through a temp agency. Wages here are usually $14-18/h for the vast majority of temp jobs But then you have no commitment to an employer to stick around - it’s a temporary job and everyone knows it. Some of them even pay people cash silly because they don’t know if they’ll be coming back even the next day. Most agencies here pay weekly.

Well it's not so much the lies, I just wonder if it looks bad on a resume to keep going from job to job, trying to find one with better pay that's good.

Well, depends on how you present and spin the info and who you’re pitching it to.

If it’s to an employer offering a good job with good pay, it’s pretty easy to tell them the truth: You accepted jobs along the way to make sure you kept busy and healthy while keeping yourself open to better suited opportunities and income potential Until you found Their opportunity and now you’d like to make a commitment to staying with them for the long haul. (And then if it doesn’t work out for whatever reason, don’t sweat it - that’s life.) Its also easy to explain that you opted to work a few different low paying gigs along the way just to broaden your work experience and skill set, and to get a different physical workout from each, and to learn how to work with different types of people etc so that you could extract as much value as possible out of that work experience time vs only learning very little by sticking to one simple low paying stop-gap job.

But if you’re applying to another disposable McJob and worried they will realize that you’re not likely to stick around since you already peaced out from a few other low paying jobs in a short time frame.. well, it’s not as if you’re ever obligated to lay all your cards on the table and even tell them all the places you’ve worked or for how long. Just list a couple places, or only the long term ones. This likely isn’t a long term career job so who cares? Only tell them what they need to know in order to have them offer you a job, then do the job for as long as you need/want to and move on.
