I also got a couple of big questions from my boss and he's looking to hire me as one of his clinical research coordinators by the end of the internship. The good news is that he's going to assign me to teams that will fit with my background moreso than the teams I'm on right now. I voiced my concerns and he seems to understand so I'm a bit more confident in how things will look should he hire me.
All of this is fine but in order to sustainably work as a CRC beyond this project you need to also publish or get your name on publications so you have a research track record that you can use to get future jobs either as a CRC or RA. I work in the university sector in Australia and can advise that once you have sufficient number of publications you should seek a postdoc fellowship. Be prepared to travel, also be prepared to do a little teaching. Nowadays even research focussed staff need to be able to give seminars and/or teach undergrad or postgrad students.
