Any accountants here?

Do you guys know if an accountant, non-CPA, can move up with only an associate's degree and an extra semester of accounting and business courses after getting the Associate's, or do I need to obtain a bachelor's degree in order to move up in the company? I'm not fretting about this, but since the thread title is "Any accountants here?," I figured, why not ask these guys the same questions I have been dumping on my parents, and see what they have to say?
There are accountant positions that will accept an associate degree. The hitch is these positions want several years experience. But if you want a position as a "staff accountant" a bachelor's degree is preferred. However, if you have an associate's degree in accounting you could try for a job as a bookkeeper or in accounts payable or accounts receivable.
If you are talking about a senior level accountant position. A bachelor's degree with several years experience is the minimum, a Masters of Accountancy or an MBA with a concentration in accounting is preferable.
