Anyways most jobs had minimum rate at which we had to work, usually 350 - 500 pieces per hour. But the fastest I could ever go before I would start to make mistakes and fumble with the pieces was about 300 pieces. As a result, I was constantly being yelled at by the plant owner who was an old fat guy with a 50 inch waste line and pants up to the chest which were held up with suspenders.

One day he came up to me and told me I was fired and to get the hell out of the place before he called the police. I was rather peeved at his curt attitude towards me the whole time I was there, and I gave him a gesture of my own as I left the place.

Here it's illegal (and enforcably so) for them to do that. Are there any charities or organisations you could contact to check out your rights for if that sort of thing happens again?

Where I live this sort of things is also unthinkable.
If an employer wants to get rid of someone and fires him, he takes the risk to get involved in a juridical procedure and in that case he needs some very good reasons, why he fired that person. If an employer fires somebody and he can´t give sufficient reasons (e.g. the employee is steeling or not functioning, which is difficult to prove) this will cost the employer a lot of money.
So he will think twice before firing somebody.
I understand this doesn´t help you much if your rights are not protected that way though, but you should definitely investigate what your rights really are and whether a diagnosis of AS will help you in some way or another.

I have a neat little part-time home job writing entries for the online catalog of a photo and video store. Your minimum is 10 item submissions per week (submitted all at once on a day you choose) and your rate per item depends on what the product is. You get paid thru PayPal every other week. It's freelance so you get 1099'd every quarter but it's a pretty awesome experience. Look on craigslist and you'll find things like this - that's where I found my gig. BE CAREFUL - there are plenty of scams, but they're usually easy to spot. G'luck!

Sounds like a really cool job there. I wonder, did you have to meet the employer (or just contact them via phone or email), and do you get to work from home? I hope I can find something similar to what you do. Thanks.
