Have you had any distasteful Jobs?
I worked in a residential home for the elderly years ago. I cleaned the rooms and did some carer shifts occasionally, not fun when most of the residents have Alzheimer's. Most days I was faced with cleaning human feces off walls, floors, carpets, bathrooms which had it on every surface, and washing sheets and clothes covered in the stuff. The smell of it was unbearable. It was also very difficult when some of the residents got aggressive, convinced you were in "their house" and were trying to rob them.
What was actually worse was the attitudes of some of the workers, they seemed to forget that these elderly people are human beings at the end of their life and the "care" workers constantly complained when the buzzers were going off, they just wanted to sit in the staff room and smoke and gossip. I felt so sad for those poor old people, they liked me because I always talked to them, some of them were lovely people and very interesting, one old guy had been a soldier in WW1.
All I know is that I never EVER want to end up in one of those places, there's no dignity. I saw some horrendous sights and little compassion. All this for minimum wage.
My friend worked in a factory like that. They had to cut up chickens to go in pies and she said some of the chickens had tumors in them and they were told to cut out the tumor/rotten bits and the rest of it still went in the pies!! !
