I'm also living with my parents and they won't let me quit. I don't think quitting is the answer anyway. Quitting something gets you nowhere. I know from past experiences.

I'm doing my job and the seniors like me. I am not going to sit at home and do nothing. It's really not wise to quit without a backup. I'm sorry for what happened to you but I don't think that's going to happen to me. My boss acts like that to everybody.

Well, at least she doesn't single you out.

However, and I'm not saying it will happen in your case but every job has this potential, if you are fired rather than quiting, then will it be easier to get a job next time? My parents wouldn't allow me to leave from working McDonald's, urged me to apply at Wal-Mart, and after I was hired at Wal-Mart -not even a month later- my step-dad threw me out of the house and I was forced to continue to work at both jobs as I struggled week to week to pay for my motel room and occasionally buy food to eat.

Yeah, I'm feeling their same pain. I graduated in June 07 with a degree in Chemical Engineering, blown about 12 in-person interviews and many more phone interviews. It's getting a tad bit frustrating, to say the least, especially when I run into people with whom I graduated and the first question they ask is "Why haven't you gotten a job yet?"

They ask it in that manner? lol If someone would say "Why haven't you gotten a job yet?" I would feel like smacking them. That's so rude to ask you like that.

I didn't realize I might have AS until I had so much trouble getting a job either, and I hate having to kiss people's asses. Every manager I have ever had has been an ass and hasn't done any work themselves basically. I try to stay away from the one I have now as much as possible because I think she told people I came from a disability program and I had back problems. She reamed me out the first week I was there but I didn't quit, and I think she thought I had quit because I was crying in her office.

Trust me, a good smacking's come to mind on several occasions. Though to be fair, the main reason they ask is that it's both odd for a Chemical Engineer to not get a job easily, and they're more shocked than anything that I'm unable to get a job, with my level of intelligence (as arrogant as it may be to claim that). Admitedly, I have been given job offers, but I didn't get an engineering degree to sell property insurance (one company that I've never before contacted keeps on setting up interviews).

Yeah I don't drive, so that limits me. I know that they probably don't try to be rude, but I just feel like people in general need to think before they ask something. lol Sometimes I feel like I'm the only considerate person in the world or something. You know what I mean?

Oh yeah, the people I forgive are the ones that didn't know I have AS/Autism, though there are a few that are just a-holes about it. I think the worst was my dad saying in a delightfully sarcastic tone "Maybe you should look up interviewing techniques" like I was too stupid to have ever thought of doing it. This coming from the guy that was too stoned to even know I was diagnosed with autism, then said everyone was lying to me when I informed him.

But this is the type of place I want to work at. It makes no sense for me to quit just because I had a problem with my boss. And that was last year when I first started. It's not like I'm trapped in some hell or something. I think you might have read a little bit more into what I wrote originally. Besides I'm not going to be in that department for much longer. I'm going to start training for my CNA certification soon.

Perhaps so. Hope it works out for you there.

I'm a train wreck waiting to happen. I couldn't hold down the few peon jobs I could get, so I moved back in with relatives. Soon that will no longer be an option, and then I'll probably wind up couch-crashing with few of my artist friends, till I wear out my welcome and wind up on the street.
I can't answer to a boss. Never again.

I am in the same boat. My Dad especially wanted me to apply here and there and gave me advice about the work world. And me not working anything but odd jobs (which I do some of now) has driven my husband crazy from the time I graduated with a BA till now. A huge sore point in our marriage let me tell you....

Anyone else have a spouse or family member that stays after you to get a descent job? I know they have NO clue what we go through and how difficult all the rejection really is and how worthless you can feel after so much stress over something many NTs manage everyday.
