You can learn from your mistakes. Be more prepared next time and practice mock interviews so you do not feel stressed out and overwhelmed with nerves during the interview. Good luck!

It has nothing to do with his "mistakes". He said the interview went well, UNTIL the question about disability was asked. So the problem is NOT interview skills. The problem is the bus' attitude about THE WORD "Asperger". So he has to sue him in order to make the facts straight.

With hold from the employer that you have a disability. Not mentioning you have a disability is technically not a lie. Omission of information is not a lie. Anyway Aspergers would not adversely impact his ability to do the job.

When in doubt omit the information. Disability/medical history is a private/personal confidential matter that does not need to be given to an employer. Just do not tell the employer that you have Aspergers. Aspergers is a mild disability and a personality trait: shy, awkward and introverted.

In this particular situation it won't be "omission of information". After all, the employer ASKED him if he had disability or not. So in order not to tell about the disability, he had to say "no". The word "no" is information. So it would have been a lie.

I agree. Thats why he should sue his employer. In fact, he said himself that he was going to sue him (when he mentioned tapes). He should carry out what he said he would do. I am surprised he changed his mind in his last post. I hope he changes his mind back and SUES that employer.

I would never ever think of this happening. My local supermarket were looking for staff, I called the manager and we agreed to to an interview. As this was my first job interview, I bought a cheap voice recorder so I could review the interview later on. The interview went well, I focused on sitting straight in the chair and looking the manager into the eyes. Then he asked me, "do you have any physical or mental impairments"? I told him that I had Asperger's, which is a very mild and not impairing condition that just makes me not liking small talk .I told him that I enjoyed meeting other people and the job of staffing a supermarket counter would fit me well. He looked at me and said, "uhm, I am sorry, but we do not employ people with mental impairments". I kept calm and told him some more Asperger's and soon after it turned into a fiery discussion. Me: "Do you know that this is discrimination?" Him: "What if I employed 10 mongoloid people, what would happen then?" me again: "I don't care, I am not mongoloid! And I have this on tape, I can call the ombudsman of equality, if you want to?" he: "*groan* I do not care. Get out of here!"

I do not know what to do now. I have the tape of the interview, and I think that I should go to the ombudsman with it and have their guys to review it. This is discrimination and I hope noone has ever experienced this. Or have you?

Sue his ass off. Sue the manager and the store in different lawsuits try to get the local TV news involved they might settle out of court. Trust me the local news would play that audio recording especially if you argued your case in an intelligent manner. If you don't win the lawsuit you at least exposed their corrupt hiring process. A little humiliation goes a long way.

Let's look on the bright side - your lawyer writes the bastard a letter, and he caves. Offers you a job.

Would you take it, knowing that the place runs on an ethic of "autism is an obscenity"?
