Not completely in sequential order:

- Deburr bench worker in a machine shop
- Programmer, USAF
- Preparing documents for microfiching
- Opening-shift janitor and backup fry cook at a Dairy Queen
- Inbound telemarketing order taker (those 800 numbers you see on infomercials)
- Answering-service operator (several different times)
- Newspaper delivery on a rural route
- Driving cars to and from an auto auction
- Junior licensing clerk at an insurance brokerage
- Graveyard-shift front desk clerk and night auditor for a hotel
- Reorganizing files for a telecommunications company that had recently expanded into cable and high-speed internet
- QC operator for a linoleum laminator (right by the output of a 400-degree kiln)
- Inventory control for a food warehouse
- Home-health aide for my autistic daughter (then they changed the rules, so the aide couldn't live with the family)
- Customer service for Verizon Wireless (and an inside view of why their CS sucks)
- Billing services for Verizon VoiceWing, their VoIP service (then it was moved to a facility in Ciudad Juarez)
- Catalog order service for REI (the most recent)

I probably missed a few jobs that ran only a few days...

For years I didn't think that there was anyone out there like me who couldn't hold stable employment and moved around a lot. Its a relief to find out I'm not alone.

1985- Delivering Flyers age 14-15
1987- Upholster in a furniture factory. 2 Months age 16.
1988- Gas jockey- 4 months. Age 17
1989- Dishwasher/ short order cook -4 months. Age 18
1990- Print shop helper- 4 months. Age 19
1990- Kitchen helper- 2 weeks. Age 19
1991- 1992- Security guard- 2 years. Ages 20-21
1992- Gas jockey- 3 months- Age 21
1993- Print shop helper- 1 week- (Fired) age 22
1993- General labour temp- P/T- a few months Age 22
1994- Office temp p/t- A few months. Age 23
1995- Landscaper helper 6 monts- Age 24

1996-2000 Billing clerk- trucking-4 1/2 years, Age 25-29.
2000-2003 Rate clerk- trucking- 3 1/2 years, Age 29-32
2003-2004 File clerk- Federal gov't- 7 weeks (fired) age 33.
2004- Customs clerk- trucking- 6 months (fired). Age 33.
2004- Dispatcher- HVAC mechanical- 5 days (fired) Age 33
2005- Truck driver- 3 months. age 34
2005- 2008 Dispatcher- trucking- 3 1/2 years. Age 34-37.
2009 Landscaper- (self employed)- 6 months. Age 38
2010- present Dispatcher- Trucking- 1 1/2 years so far. Age 39-41 presently.

My 'big' break came when I got into trucking at age 25. It pays well;, but my lack of interpersonal skills sooner or later gets me booted out of whatever I happen to be doing. I'd like to stay in my existing position for the balance of my working career; however if history is any guide, it would take both a lot of hard work and luck to keep my present job.

Repent, I am really impressed that you are able to hold a job for as long as over 4 years. I can hardly survive a year.

TV Guide/Magazine route.
Dishwasher (I hated this job so much... poor jokes, loud staff and only one free beer at closing)
Mom gets cancer.
Customer service/Bills
Cleaner (on the side: Xbox repairs & modification, I refused to sell games)
Mom no longer has cancer.
Customer service/E-mail at local ISP
Customer service/E-mail and Phone at horrific evil ISP ran by religious nutcase (bankrupt ~6 months after I left)
Self employed/Computer "repairs".
Customer service/Phone at local ISP with "christian values" (no cursing at work, filtered connections, selling services re-branded under church names)
Customer service/Phone+Chat at large international testing provider with 8 others at that location
Tried to get a bachelors in computer sciences. World of Warcraft ran all too well on my new laptop.
Dad dies.
Tried to get a bachelors in industrial design. Remembered how much less stressful the world was when smoking weed.
Tried to get a bachelors in computer sciences, again. f**k teamwork, you guys suck too much. Ill go smoke some weed and finish half the project alone. Or maybe play some videogames.
Series of meaningless on-site techsupport related jobs that required 0 technical skills.
Customer service/Phone at mega corporation providing internet, phone and television via landlines and mobile.
Remembered that smoking weed destroys short term memory for long enough to consider alternatives.
Got some therapy.
Applied for bachelors degree study as civics/social science teacher. Got in, passed more classes then ever.
Got a diagnosis I didn't expect to get.

Read this thread and concluded that no, I did NOT do f**k all with my life. Also what Beers said :)

8O

I was once almost killed (indirectly) by my religious nutcase boss because he was fighting with his pregnant girlfriend who was driving the van we were all in. She decided to kill herself (and consequently, everyone in the van) by plowing through several red-lights.

I only work for secular businesses anymore....

Very interesting to see that so many of us have had extremely social jobs...

My own list includes several social jobs:

* Taught computing for kids age 7-10
* Worked at McDonald's during one summer
* Secretary/assistant in the economy department of an electronics factory
* Black Jack-dealer at various nightclubs (lasted 6 months, wanted to quit earlier, I was skilled but couldn't take the drunk customers, the lights and the music)
* Salesclerk at a jewelry store
* Store manager of aforementioned jewelry store (current)
