I'd rather collect welfare and live on housing support than trade my precious time being a pawn for a low hourly wage that only goes toward maintaining my existence.

I think people also get upset (hopefully someone hasn't already mentioned this) because, it seems to me, that people often get insulted when one person has something they want or already have but that person has not "suffered" as much as they have in order to get it. Yes, suffering is different for everyone. But I've contemplated this and people have that thing going about them where they feel cheated if another person has what they have without "paying the same price".

I think one of the next steps in human evolution has got to be getting rid of this mindset where "I have suffered so you must suffer." It's just..............................unaware.

Yes I agree completely. I hate it when some jerk says "We should abolish welfare because I grew up in poverty then worked three jobs to pay my way through college." They go on about how horrible it was for them, then say they want others to go through the same thing "They say, why should they have an easy ride?" I saw this social darwinist jerk on Youtube called Molineux say that. I've heard my relatives say that too but not as bad as Molineux.

But you're capable of working & earning your own way?

If so, do you ever stop to think that welfare & housing support don't manifest themselves out of thin air.. that others have to work harder & pay higher taxes in order for you to do nothing/whatever you want?

I at least hope you're spending your time doing something productive - like scientific research, or writing a book, or creating something of value to society. Then it's a different story, as those tax dollars are being invested in you & your pursuits vs. being wasted on a leech who simply chooses not to work for anything they want - including an easy life of R&R.

Working for a low hourly wage that only goes towards maintaining your existence isn't a permanent employment status.. it's the first step towards earning more & more to an eventual life of abundance.

Simply because people are capable but unwilling to support themselves (or have something like what Misery talks about, being lucky enough to have friends/relatives willing to back it; I sure don't)? This is nothing short of state-assisted theft.
