Unemployed. Just got turned down for a City job because I lack a proper driver's license. The hunt continues. Damn I'm discouraged today.

Almost qualified primary teacher. No job for September yet.

I'd love to be someone who makes furniture but I've got awful fine motor skills. I'd also love to be a gardener.

My job has changed since I last posted on this thread. I now work at a state institution for people with the primary condition of mental retardation. My duty is to take care of the clients and teach them skills. (Such as dressing and toileting). I also play games or color with them, when I have the time. I change attends (diapers) and give baths, which I actually don't mind much.

The clients are varied and interesting to work with, but it's challenging being around people all night. (I work 4 pm to midnight). I have more anxiety about the staff than the clients, as I've always been comfortable around those who are "not normal." Luckily, there's usually only one staff member aside from me after nine-O'-clock, and I enjoy talking to people one-on-one. The groups during the late afternoon can be grueling though...

Technical Operations Specialist... basically a Litigation Support Analyst working for a vendor. The job involves a lot of ms access, sql server, load file manipulation and lots of problem solving. Although not part of the job description, I really love writing programs to automate things which we do manually.

The job used to be fun, but now it's just very stressful, not challenging enough, and not well compensated enough given the market value and the hours I have to work and be available to work (pretty much required I have a cell phone by me 24/7). This is why I am looking very much forward to being a full-time programmer, awaiting an offer letter which they supposedly started on 2 weeks ago. This wait is greatly magnifying the stress level on the job.

I'm good at my job, but am rather tired of hearing that I need to improve my communication skills

I am currently in limbo - awaiting a return to a Government legal department; it depends whether or not my third review which took place yesterday was successful (and they decide to retain my services) or not.

I work for the single most evil company. AOL TimeWarner Cable division. I'm tech support third (highest) tier. It's nice though because as tech support all I have to worry about is fixing things.

I miss my days at Apple Computer though. *sniff*

Programmer / Analyst / Systems Developer

- for a government agency concerned in foreign investments promotion. We have remote offices within the industrial parks in the provinces and i get to travel to most of them. This is my first job and i seem to like it now. Nobody knows i have AS and i plan to keep it that way for as long as i am working here. I've been working here for more than four years now, and don't really have any close work friends. I avoid any event/gathering/party that doesn't require attendance. My co-workers respect me a lot and they seem to have gotten used to me not talking or not joining in most of their out-of-work-topic conversations. I try not to break any office rules even if everyone seem to do so and i rarely listen to gossip. Because of this, my co-workers think of me as just a professional and they don't bug me at all (though there is always those people who want you to join in and talk all the time, i just ignore them or at times fake interest and then move away gradually). I think the trick is not to expect a lot out of your job. I don't expect anything from my employer other than my paycheck, and i don't expect to gain any friends either. This way, i don't feel shortchanged or cheated. You need to learn to accept that you are different and the standard concept of reciprocity most of the time may not apply to you and often you will need to compromise your own happiness or set of ideals to cope. This may sound unfair but the world didn't really come about with our needs in mind. If you think you need help, look within yourself first. We are very well equipped to do so.

Well a 'job' is employment or work you do in order to get money to survive. 'Your' implies thats it belongs to you. So its employment that belongs to you.

Sorry that so many people above have given you wrong answer.

I currently work in fast food. Bit of a nightmare, really, but it's the only job that I have access to at this time. I always get stuck having to deal with complete idiots.
