I like driving, but only in my old landrover really, modern cars are boring cos its all too soft and flimsy. But I drive several hudred miles a week for work.

I finally got my license after the 4th try when I was 17. I loved driving at first but then it just became another mundane activity. I hate driving now because of the gas prices.

If it weren't for my dad though, I may not have ever started driving. He kept pushing me until I did it.

I don't drive...I'm afraid to because I'm physically very uncoordinated and I often misjudge distances, speed, and position. I'd also have a hard time focusing and not being distracted by everything going on around me.

I've yet to learn to drive, it hasn't really been a priority for me. Plus it's so expensive now :P I expect I will have to at some point but it isn't an issue yet. My dad is an experienced driver though so he'll be a big help when I decide to learn.

Absolutely not, and I was roundly abused for not having a car during university.

I learned to drive when I was 12. It's always been a necessary part of my life. Now, I have to for my job (I'm a mechanic).

I did well in driver ed (Waldorf Maryland), about a B, but the instructor had issues with my coordination, and with my mom's consent withheld my driving certificate.

In West Virginia in between my third and fourth years of college, Mom instructed Dad to make arrangements to get my license (he did not want to, he did not want to put me on campus either). I read the instruction manual and got a learner's permit, and a neighbor gave me road time, and by a month into the fall semester I got my license.

Friends let me drive part of the stretch between Martinsburg and Huntington when I was moving to and back from Marshall University for grad school, but Dad would not. Dad crashed a Geo Metro in the driveway (hit a tree) not long before he died and Mom had to buy my brother's old 1990 Chevy Cavalier. I wonder if he did it on purpose....

Dad died and had kept Mom iut of practice of driving since we left Maryland. Mom nominated me to immediately fulfill all driving-related duties and notified her insurance to cover me. Neighbors gave me a quick (not a crash course) refresher course in road skills. I played Petra music on the tape deck to get over the fear.

------------------

Today I have pretty much a clean (four year) record as a Virginia resident. My last incident was paint scratches on a rental car about early August 2004. My new Nationwide agent says they track back to four years, so now my record seems clean, no vehicular collisions, just the occasional hitting the curb, backing into a pillar, or crushing a rubber traffic cone.

Negative incidents are highly correlated with miles driven. Perhaps having a commute measured in thousands of feet (hundreds of miles a month)

I drive an ambulance. And for someone who only likes dealing with one or two people at a time, it's a wonderful job.

I do. I still have to get comfortable with the whole driving alone thing.

I get lost easily.

I've been driving since I was 16. My driving is unlike anyone else's I know, mine is constantly evolving to a point of pure perfection. It's got to a point where I realise there are not many right hand drive cars in the UK. I'd have to modify my car for a complete RHD conversion OR go Japanese where they do make true RHD cars.

I've yet to find a right hand drive radio - work that one out - people ;)

Although the UK does have many small cars, I bought a larger car for numerous reasons and I see why many people prefer them and not go back - all that space for myself, luggage and for any passengers. Got 2 at the moment in close proximity, one on my trailer, waiting to fix it, my tools are in another car and I can't afford to buy more

I LOVE driving.

I can escape and listen to loud music.
