chief veterinarian at a zoo or wildlife sanctuary
meerkat specialist veterinarian (like the person who is most versed in meerkat anamoty and anything to do with meerkats. There are vets who are so well versed in horses, snakes, elephants, etc. so why can't I become the leading authority on meerkats?)

I laughed, what's even funnier is that that might happen one day.

I still want to be an Electrician, I just had my first meeting with the apprenticeship broker so I'm doing something about it now.

It changes from day to day.

I sort of have this already, but what works for me is to have a job where I am able to do a wide assortment of creative and technical work. Being the computer graphics expert at my company gives me the freedom to do both visual design and computer tinkering. Adding photography into the mix would make it all the better and this may come to pass some time soon. Also making the occasional documentary on the side can be quite fulfilling.

No idea, ... anything involving languages, (ancient) books and german shepards.

Park ranger sounds tempting, too, though.

I like to work mostly independently. I like research/information and computers. I'm not exactly sure how that will translate into a job. If I can't work for a company, I guess I will have to be an "expert" at something and open my own business.

I would love to one day work in the financial field or work at a big computer company like Microsoft, Dell, etc.

1. Fantasy: Personalized intensive cat-care & companionship for feline-crazy rich people who live in architecturally and culturally interesting places.

2. Realistically: I've always been fascinated with medicine and language. I'm currently in medical transcription school and loving it. I think this will be a perfect career for me, sitting in front of a computer at odd hours listening to detailed medical reports in interesting accents. I was a professional musician for many years and have a great ear. I also enjoy puzzles and research and anything to do with words and vocabulary. Training is done online from home and so is the work, thanks to digital technologies and the Internet. CareerStep is my school.

Honestly assess your skills and find a career that matches. Not the skills you WISH you had, but the real you, right now, gifts and limitations. There are counselors and online resources to help you get an idea. And remember to go to the root of it all: living smaller and simpler means you need less money/job anyway. Evaluate wants and needs, know the difference between them and find a job that can fill that realistically in the amount of time you are physically and mentally available for a job. Many Americans have grown up emulating an artificially high standard of living and thinking they need a lot of money to "keep up". This is one peer pressure that would be valuable to remain immune to!
