I'm 27, unemployed, and likely aspie (awaiting specialist determination).

I'm lucky to be on disability right now for depression, although it doesn't pay enough for me to move out of my parents' house.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. If not, then thank you.

no sarcasm, no reason for it. your uplifting sentiment in your post was edifying to me and revivified my resolve to press onwards until the end. it was a medicinal dose of "stiff upper lip" that i needed. :)

31, graduaded in Abnormal psychology and it then took me 8 years to discover I could have been sitting on the OTHER site of the desk at a psyhologists office..
I'm not even a whole Aspie, I think I'm very mildly on the spectrum.

27 (soon to be 28 ), female, unemployed

I have two degrees from two different school: Fine Arts bachelor degree from Ball State University, Associate degree from Medtech College with CPCA certification. Haven't gotten a job for either degree

I have Aspergers's, severe depression, and anxiety. The latter two I don't have official diagnoses for. ADHD might also be another possibility. I know I desperately need professional help before I can even think about going back into job hunting but my parents are stubborn (insert every bad word here) and will never agree to it.

I am 21 on a disabled pension and never worked a day in my life due to my Aspergers.

I dropped out of school half way through Year 8 and I never returned. School was not for me, too many people hated me for no reason. I hated school and everything about it. I learnt nothing at school.

Later I realised it was my Aspergers/Autism and I am not to blame for being the way I am. I am unique and special. I am self educated by the Internet, TV and talk back radio.

People should not put up with being abused, harassed and bullied because of their disabilities and differences. Withdrawing oneself from danger is the logical and safest thing to do.

I'm old enough to know better, and I have Asperger's, and I am unemployed.

In seeing this thread, I have to ask myself, is this my destiny?

I'm old enough to know better also - but I just quit my job!

I have worked for the past 10 years - don't know what I'm going to do now!!
I have a skill that will allow me to earn some cash working from home - but it's not going to be enough.
I hope I can find something - I don't want lose my little house :(

I'm 42 unemployed and an Auspie. I've been on disability for 10 years for Bi-polar disorder. I went on disability when I found out that my son(11) had autism after I had failed at my last job. I now have a daughter(9) with Asperger's and my marriage is breaking up. I have been trying to find a job for the past few months, but have had no interviews so far. I have a BS in Psychology and experience in retail and apartment management as well as experience as a lab tech. I am really trying hard not to be severely depressed about the whole thing, but the prospect of being alone, homeless and unemployed is scaring the crap out of me.

Scincerely,
Scintor

I'm 25, unemployed and an Aspie.

Not having the strongest social tools and skills plus a bad economy really hurts right now.

42, unemployed, on SSDI for 10 years due to massive burnout (primarily manifest as cognitive losses) and a heart condition.

I am 41 and have been laid off for 2 years. You know what, I don't think my old job is calling me back.

I'm 35. Haven't been back in the workforce since the birth of my first child, who is now nearly 10 1/2. I'm on a disability pension and do a bit of study and work from home so I don't refer to myself as unemployed. But definitely not employed in the traditional sense.
