I'm unemployed right now, at least for paid employment. But it is of my choice

I've never been on the dole as it were, but I was on Medicaid for a few years after I got laid off of my civil service job about a decade back. now thankfully due to ACA ["obamacare"] I have regular health insurance so I can see a sawbones when I get sick just like other civilized peoples in the rest of the world, for a while after budget cuts kicked me off of Medicaid I made do with the next-to-nothing of catastrophic indemnity which just paid for ER and emergency surgery but left me to pay for doc's visits out of pocket which of course I could not afford. I live on a modest inheritance and savings from 2+ decades of civil service work, and if those were gone I'd be living under a bridge someplace. it seems that uncle sam was my only employer for my adult life, no civilian would hire me for anything, as I am too slow and too weird for most people. I have legitimate skills and knowledge in the field of digital audio restoration but nobody will give me a chance. phooey! :hmph:

I'm unemployed at the moment, though I'm currently looking for work more or less. I want to find a job just so that I can start making my own money and so that people will quit bothering me about it, but at the same time I don't want to actually work.

Add me to the list of "unemployed". I've never had a job despite applying for a lot of them in the past.

yeah I agree with you the disability services people suggested a government job as their obliged to hire 10 % of people with a disability I've been on the pension for so long I can not imagine any one who would hire me, I don't have to look but thanks to medication and lifestyle changes I can do some work. :)

is that correct with the 6 year limits, sounds pretty harsh to me given the usa has a deep recession every 10 years...

I'm unemployed, and I'm on government aid of all sorts I guess.
I barely use 20% of the money they give me.

I'm actually unemployable because I'm a mad scientist mastermind.
I believe that all things in nature are given freely to anyone.
Humans make it hard to survive.
Living doesn't really cost anything.

You can't "make your own" money and be employed. You can earn money from someone else for your work.
You could print your own money, but that'd be illegal.
You could earn "your own" money from another person for doing a job directly for them.
Jobs don't just exist or not exist. They are created by humans.
You may be human. You may create a job. Your neighbor may be human, too.

I just went to a job interview today, and I've been hired as far as I can tell, so you can take me off the list.

Australian government is a hypocrite on that mate. The percentage of people with a disability working in the public service has decreased over the years from 6% to 3%. They need to set an example to other employers and have a quota that reflects society. 20% population have a disability so workplaces have to have the same percent of people with a disability work for them.

they discussed this on the News Hour recently , employer groups /right wing politicians where saying they should be hired not for touchy feel good reasons (it's America after all) but for the fact they make better employers something to do about loyalty , that's a good serf bow to your masters, no offense  I didn't like the tone of he segment.

I will be very soon. If I don't get fired, I am close to quitting. I work at the least autistic friendly place ever and my boss is awful. I hate my job.

That has changed. Not only sales but I have no set roster. I get sick and vomit on a customer and the boss sends me home but expects me to make up the time I was sick.

I have no idea what I have to do each shift as he makes sure iy is changed. So one day I will come in and have to randomlly sticker or serve or stock. It is awful.
