I've just returned to work after being off sick for nine days. I had a flu-like illness, and was given a 2 week sick note by my doctor. I'm getting so annoyed at people firstly making jokes about swine flu (don't know if i had it or not), and then implying that I wasn't really ill and took a 2 week holiday. I'm probably going to lose a lot of pay because of our rubbish sick pay terms, so I don't see how I would gain from pretending to be sick anyway. Any advice on how to deal with people before I lose my temper?

I think you'll just have to try your best to ignore them until they get bored with the subject. Not easy, I know.

Another option is to ask if they would like you to cough over them so they can find out for themselves whether it was swine flu! :P
