Who is an engineer? What kind of engineering do you do? I am a civil engineer just out of college.

I was an electrical engineer. I went back to school in my 30's, got my degree, worked for 4 years in spacecraft systems, then fifteen more years mostly in spacecraft operations. I really enjoyed it, as it was a good fit to my personality. My employers were quite aspie-friendly.

I am a former mechanical engineer who was let go a few weeks ago. Fortunately I managed my money carefully and am now semi-retired. Engineering is a very dead profession in the US. I know dozens of unemployed engineers right now and nobody, not even the NT ones can find a job right now. I am going to school in the fall to get some medical certifications. Engineering is dead and I'm glad I'm out of it.

Mechanical Engineering is probably the most broad out of all the engineering fields. I'm sure it won't be hard to switch over to the medical field. I don't think it is dead, not for civil engineering. Our infrastructure is crumbling and at least this administration finally sees that. Hopefully we will start to see some of the stimulus money soon.

Is it really that bad? I was thinking about going back to school and doing Mechanical Engineering after I got my Econ degree...

hehehehe, ur funny.

I'm studying chemical engineering. I graduated from undergrad in 2008, and I'm starting grad school. I've never worked in the industry though. When I grow up I wanna go to Bovine University.

Most of the people I know work for the oil & gas devils.

I'm studying electrochem and making fuel cells. I've recently joined a research group that does electro-synthesis of hydrogen peroxide, which is in an interdisciplinary network of research groups to make high quality drinking water accessible to all.

I'm in my somewhat confused and learning all I can phase.

I'm about to go into my freshman year of college, majoring in computer engineering, but what Metal_Man wrote has me doubting... but then again, my dad got his degree in civil not 5 years ago and he's doing fine...

Civil Engineering still has some life left in it. Electrical and mechanical are completely dead. I don't know anything about computer engineering to comment on that.

Does anyone know of some good Math tutorials- ie calculus ?

Would I have the same results in electrical engineering -w/ t a tech school degree as I would w/ a degree from an University?

I already have degrees from Universities- unrelated.

Thanks

I think it all depends on the particular school.

How many degrees do you have?
