At work yesterday, someone said to me, "Smile, it's Friday!" I actually thought I was smiling at her as I walked past as a way of acknowledging her, but the command mustn't have reached my face.

I also get, "Cheer up!" even though I'm not in a bad mood. I reply to this by making an overly emphasised, sarcastic, cheesy smile, which usually does the trick.

Plus there's, "You're quiet today," which is apparently supposed to be a conversation starter.

Anybody have any comments they get at work?

I used to get the same comments, 12 years ago, working at the factory. My younger co-workers would try to get me to dance and sing, which I never did. I wasn't going to let any bullies tell me what to do.

An annoying one, which I'm not sure is a London thing, is "Cheer up, it might never happen!",
to which I sometimes answer "It already has".

I must pull extreme expressions. It's either "Cheer up!" or "You're soooo happy!"

I rarely feel like smiling at work.

Same here.

another annoying comment is when you are sitting at someone else's desk and someone says
"Hi (insert name of the person whose desk it is)"
Is that meant to be funny?

The humour or context is that the person is usually quite different from the other person, not always though.

For example sitting at a person's desk who is superior from that person or the opposite sex.

I work at a book store and one of my bosses is the anti-me. She like fluffy things. When I was telling her about the book The Road, which even Oprah had the sense to see as a good piece of fiction, she remarked "eww that book is about eating dead babies," when I pointed out this cool sock puppet kit she remarked "sock puppets are scary."
