Does depression make your jobs miserable? I keep quiting one job after another. Some days I go into to work and it's a breeze. Other times it feels like the day will never end, and I'm suffering through the whole day. :( I feel weak and think "what's the point". Is this depression? If so, maybe I can get help and then I can keep a job. I have not held a job for more than a year. I think I might have dysthymia.

You clearly have the wrong job. Give some long serious thought to what you could make a living (not get rich, just survive) doing and work toward that. I've had several normal, workaday jobs and they all made me want to kill myself. But if you find something you enjoy and can feel good about at the end of the day, it's a whole different world.

actually it is the REcession that is making my job miserable!
I am glad to have it, but I don't care much for it anymore. I would be a fool to lose a job in this economy, though.

Depression has stopped me from getting a job in the past.
I sent in a job application once for a job at a fast-food restaurant. I got an interview, however, was too depressed to attend.

I have had a volunteer job in the past at a pet store, though. At that time I was experiencing depression and it made manual tasks a LOT harder because I had so little energy and all I wanted to do was lay down in the middle of the store and sleep.
Also, it required a lot of customer service skills and in a depressed state, I was in no way able to use them accurately.

I was always depressed working as a meat cutter or working on a computer
help desk, they are unsatisfying jobs that suck the life out of you, I am really
enjoying working as a truck driver, getting to see the country, driving though
the mountains, not having the boss screaming at me, I am always smiling when
I am on the road

Sometimes when I'm depressed at work, I just go observe an anthill. I limit it to 30 minutes so I don't get in trouble.

Well, if I was out of debt from my Education degree (still have another 3 years to pay!) I wouldn't be a teacher anymore. I get up almost every day feeling down about my life and wish that the school would close down for the day for whatever reason. When I get to the school, I'm in a better frame of mind but I wish I could wake up feeling happy about my job.

I was happier working in retail where the job was more predictable. I've put on a lot of weight since I graduated probably because I don't enjoy my job.

I feel the same way about my current teaching job. I pray I will wake up ill or the school will not be open. I struggle through the day...everything and this point is driving me crazy.
I just can't take it anymore and I want out NOW!
I put in 1 or 2 applications and hope to put more in soon. I am afraid right now...i am stressed out and depressed. I am afraid I cannot think clearly. I am having trouble getting in applications because of the way I feel.
Also my husband, certified as a music teacher, is stuck working retail and very unhappy about that. We love each other and want to be happy but I feel so bad to have a "good" job when so many do not and all i want to do is escape.

That's kindA sad, especially so for the students, teachers should do the right thing by their students and retire. And why wouldn't they their are "crappy" jobs like truck driving :) that pay more money than teaching so why would you stay in that profession if you've lost all motivation?

wouldn't be a teacher anymore

At age 24 you feel this way 8O / :?
