Why did you get fired? Is it due to your aspergers? If so, that is ILLEGAL!
Reading his
other topic, he says he never disclosed having AS to his bosses. He also admitted he could have done better a job, regardless of his condition.
I'm pretty much in the same boat. I got fired a week and a half ago from my job. My bosses a few days prior thought I was dyslexic (which I'm not), or at least something was up. I really was just screwing up an awful lot - not anything intentionally, but it became concern worthy on all sides. Only after I was fired did I say I had AS.
Since this is in Mass. for me as well, I will also add for the OP: When I was at the local career center, this is what they told me in regards to unemployment: Since you was fired (they used the term "discharged"), a mediator for the state will have to contact your employer as well as yourself. It's up to the mediator to decide whether or not you're eligible for benefits - based on how things actually went while you was working.
Greeeeeeeeeat
I may be better off just finding a short term job while I'm hunting instead of having to deal with this.
Simply put, it was a hard job, but I've no one to blame but myself, I just couldn't do it well enough. I have good educational credentials and computer skills, I simply need to find something more suitable.
I know you have the right intention, luvsterriers, but we can't be burning bridges everywhere we go and then pull the AS card, that's just not how it works.
I spent the late afternoon / evening looking up new jobs, finding career fairs and counselors, and some other stuff. Hopefully I can turn this over quick and get on with my life.
