Four months ago (Feb. 1st) I had a severe depressive episode and was seriously contemplating suicide. My doctor took me off work and now I'm back at work (Jun. 1st). I really thought I could handle the problems because I worked very hard to overcome the problems that led to my contemplating suicide.

A lot has changed and and a lot has stayed the same. When I went home after work on the 1st, I felt pretty ok about how the day went. On the 2nd, I was so mad at my co-workers and managers that I spent about an hour and a half complaining to my Mom (my husband works nights). The 3rd day I spent most of it crying. I went through 30 mg of Xaxax while at work (my prescription limits me to 15 mg per day). Today is more of the same.

Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to cope with the dictatorship type management style until I can find a new job?

An example of what's going on: the 3 other people in my office have not welcomed me back nor are they talking to me. Other employees, including employees of another company that we share the building with, have said welcome back and it's nice to see you back, etc. The first thing my CEO said (through my supervisor - she hasn't talked to me in person at all) that I shouldn't be talking to anyone in the hallway. WTF???

Thank you for letting me rant.

Ah, more bullying and exclusionary behavior. Also, your CEO is probably the type who likes to control everyone by trying to dictate every small thing employees do (and also likes getting his/her lackeys--read: your supervisor--to do his/her dirty work).

I'm sorry you're going through all this. Spend every moment you can looking for a new job. In the meantime, keep telling yourself that they are all far beneath you and they're only acting like that because they're socially "normal" (whatever that's supposed to mean) and they feel they can get away with it. I know, that sounds like advice a parent would give a kid who's being bullied at school--advice which NEVER helps, I realize--but I honestly don't know what else to tell you. It doesn't even look like you could complain to anyone.

You could spend more time talking with the people across the hall who were nice to you. Just don't do it "in the hallway"--go over to their offices when you have actual free time (like lunch).

Hope that helps a little. Feel free to keep ranting here as much as you like. Take care.

Thanks Conundrum, you nailed the situation perfectly. I have started a job search and have found a job for a company I'd really like to work for. Wish me luck! :)

I went through life leaving every job when I hit hard times because I could not cope. One day I had a knee injury which required alot of procedures to solve the workplace turned nasty and I have gone from being very fit and healthy to having so many things wrong with me that I cant even go out for a walk in the countryside whenever I want. Dont loose over ten years of your life and destroy your health get out of there now !

I hope you do get the really nice job you have got your eye on but if not I would advise you to take any job just to get out, its just not worth it ! !! !!

Saying that though I didnt know I am probably AS and I am hoping there are some good ways of coping with that sort of thing that I will be able to access after the diagnosis so you might be better off, I hope so ! !! !

Thanks 700. I think you're right about getting out of there ASAP! I heard today that there might be layoffs. I have my fingers crossed that I'm on that list... :D

Maybe you could put your name forward for being laid off !? I would be careful though because sometimes they lay off the people next in line to retire and other categories.

Yeah, look for another job -- it's a fact you'll start to feel better as soon as you start preparing to leave. Dont quit though, at least here in America you collect unemployment if they let you go versus voluntary resignation.

If a job drives you towards any negative direction... It's not the right fit.

Good point I was actually told by my doctor (when it was to late  ) Why dont you just leave and sign on ? I didnt know I could ! If it does get to bad why dont you ask your doctor for advice. Are you in the UK ?
