I'm currently in University and need to find a job that I can do evenings or weekends that isnt the usual shop assistant or waiter which are both rather intimidating..
Has anyone got any ideas? I'm in the middle of London so there should be plenty of things but I dont know where to start.

A lot of offices and businesses need someone to clean up Monday-Friday (maybe Sat as well) 5-7. I've did quite a few of those jobs when I was in education. No social interaction involved, and lots of routine. I loved it.

Door-to-door leaflet delivery. (This involves shoving leaflets through the mail slot in doors. It is not to be confused with door-to-door sales, or handing out leaflets in a crowded shopping area.) Usually the people who run these operations are flexible with the specific hours, provided you get the job done by a specified date. The main catch with these jobs is the pay is awful. Anyway, I recall seeing them advertised on websites like
http://www.gumtree.com/
http://london.craigslist.co.uk/
and
http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/index.htm

Two part -time jobs I enjoyed while in college were veterinarian helper, and working in a camera store.

The vet job I came in early before school and cleaned all the animal cages, walked and fed the dogs. Also mopped up the waiting room (before they opened) to get everything set up for the day. Wiped nose prints off the glass. :) And washed a big stack of dirty food dishes. It was all in the back, no customer interaction, no medical stuff. But I got to talk to and be with all the cats and dogs while I moved them from cage to cage to clean each one and feed them. Then I'd go off to college as they were opening up. If you like animals you might inquire at some vets to see if they need such a helper?

The camera store job was evenings and weekends. It just happens that I like photography (it was my STRONG interest in high school) and didn't mind demonstrating and discussing lenses and such. Selling can be okay if you have a technical edge (like maybe cell phones or computers?) that interests you.

That sounds soooo cool!
What exactly should I ask for though? What sort of job position? I have trouble wording things like that correctly unless I practise..

First locate some vets in your area. Map the locations.
Then drop in during the day and ask at the front desk if they need help.
Smile.
Say you are a college student looking for part time work. Anything.

Even if they say "No" up front, They will (in USA anyway) likely hand you a job application to fill out.
You fill in your name/address/phone and any other stuff you can and leave it at the desk.
Put down what hours you are available. Mention cage cleaning is okay.

If you have any experience (you own a pet and have cleaned litter boxes, or walked dogs, etc.)
write it down. Say something about how much you like animals.
Smile. Thank the person. Hand her the app.

They will usually call in a week if they can use you.
If not, they probably aren't calling.
Figure you might be called by 1 out of every 5 - 10 apps. you fill out.
Don't do one and wait. Visit 3 places in one day.

The only way for anyone, NT or AS, to get a job these days is by "pounding the pavements".

Good Luck!

Sometimes they call that position a 'kennel tech.' I'm looking for that position in the US right now. I look for jobs (not vet jobs specifically, just any) on care.com, craigslist, and marketplace on facebook.

I just looked on Craigslist London and 90% of the part time jobs there are for Models, Escorts and Porn Stars....
I dont think I really trust that site..
