I found some very positive information about my career field, geology. Geologists have a starting salary of $74,400 a year, and the market is very desparate--because many geologists are approaching retirement age, and very few young college students are majoring in it.

The vast majority of jobs are in the oil and gas industry, but there is probably a good demand in the other fields (seismology, volcanology, etc)

Theres still plenty for geologists to do, where they were used to find oil deposits previously the latest thing to find will be suitable sites for geothermal power plants.
