I just signed up to become a ChaCha guide.

This job is for a "KGB" type Text-Message question answering service, called ChaCha! You work from home and get paid per question answered. The questions range from "What time is the LAA's game?", or "wuz the weather look like in NYC?". The pay ranges from $.10 to $.20 per question. Once you've been doing this a couple months, a work pace of a question a minute should not be unreasonable. That's $6-$12 an hour, working from home! Just follow these easy 10 steps. No initial start-up fee or any outrageous terms to sign up to! Start working in as little as 5 days!

Step 1. Go to the website http://answers.chacha.com/careers/job-opportunities/.
Step 2. Click the "Become a ChaCha Guide!" tab.
Step 3. "Register to Become a Guide". In this step input your name, gender, birth-date, email address, phone number, user name, password, level of education, and level of internet speed.
Step 4. To increase your chances of getting employed say you heard of ChaCha from "Friend or Relative". When it asks for the guide you know type the email address " --- [email protected] ---- ".
Step 5. Next input the hours you wish to work. You work from home and make your own schedule, so feel free to pick the hours that suit you.
Step 6. Agree to the job by checking the boxes at the bottom.
Step 7. "Submit registration"
Step 8. Watch the introductory video and sign a W9 to insure payment.
Step 9. At this point you will asked to pick a job. There are two to choose from: Expeditor (EX) and Generalist/Specialist (GE/SP). The EX sorts the questions into categories. The GE/SP answers the question using common search engines such as Bing and Google. ChaCha also provides some helpful link sources for quick searches.
Step 10. Now you watch a series of videos introducing you to the basic description of the job. You learn a relatively simple job and after completing all the videos you take a quiz. This is to see if you meet the minimum time required to answer a common question. It shouldn't take more than 4 minutes per question.
Congratulations! You have now successfully applied to become a ChaCha guide. It will take about 3 days for your test results to be verified and for them to get your account set up to begin working.

It seems perfect for Aspies. You don't have to deal with people directly, so you can sit at home and work. You can also become a Generalist/Specialist in a subject that you're familiar/obsessed with...

$6-12 an hour is NOT A LIVING WAGE! I was expecting it to be something like $18-30 an hour.

After researching that a bit it seems as though most people with that job make closer to 4-6 dollars an hour, which is horrendous.

If they drastically increased what they paid I might give it a go, but as is I think I'll pass. Thanks for the link and info though jdcnosse!

Weird, my ex girlfriend rented a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house on an acre of land, supported her mom and her smoking addictions, paid for cable, internet, etc. Spent $60+ a month on gas all on $7.50 an hour. Somehow I think that's living.

I'd honestly do this. I'm very active on yahoo answers some days and that doesn't pay a dime (though it does allow me to be more opinionated, I can say Dodge vehicles suck for instance)

My only problem is how payment is made. I tried something similar in Amazon's "Mechanical Turk". I made $10 which should have been easily convertible to money to spend on amazon.com but I still haven't figured out where the money is so I can't use it and I know I could use it and some more money right now but I won't do any more of it until I can see my money. Paypal would be better but still not ideal, I'd prefer either direct deposit onto my debit card or cash money.

Yes, I doubt that anyone would do this as a full-time (40 hour) a week job, just because of the repetitve-ness of it.

They do two payment options. You can do the "Pay Me Now" where whenever you want, you can hit a button and have the money automatically transferred onto a debit card that you can use wherever Visa/Mastercard is accepted. Or you can have it transferred monthly into a bank account, although you have to wait until you have at least like $50 for that option.

I'll stick to becoming a hedge fund manager, thanks. It's much higher paying and is about analysing information and understanding complex financial systems (despite it being "too complicated" for the A Level college Economics course, I understand derivatives to a level that confuses the teachers).

IMO, the financial sector is rather ideal for Aspies.

With the "Pay Me Now" option you have to create an account at their bank, and then get a Visa Debit Card with that account. Also they charge you 2 dollars anytime you want your money transferred to said debit card.

Well, FWIW, the concept of a "living wage" is an amount that varies based on the cost of living in an area. Where I live, a "living wage" is supposed to be something like $15/hr, since rents are so absurdly high. Your mileage may vary.

sounds like it would be great for a college student, especially a lazy one. And with this economy, everybody could do with a lil extra income.

that sounds pretty cool. my head is loaded with useless facts, and i know how to find something i don't know pretty quickly. i can play a mean game of trivial pursuit ;)

thanks, i'll check it out, i could use the extra income. even if they do charge 2 bucks to make a withdrawl.
