Have you heard of Vector Marketing and/or CutCo knives? CutCo is a company that makes fine cutlery, mainly sets of knives, but a few other kitchen items as well. Vector Marketing is a subsidiary of CutCo that sells the knives. Now it sells them through sales reps that do product demos (read: sales pitches) in people's homes. Post your stories here; here are some questions to get you started.

Have you ever worked for Vector Marketing?

Do you know someone who worked for them?

Any other stories you're willing to share?

I worked for them for a little while a few summers back... I saw it as a way to improve my social skills but it didn't really work (the job or the improvement) I quit after a few weeks. Basically if you don't already have a social network its pretty hard to succeed in that job cos you're basically selling it to friends and friends of friends, etc

vector is alot like amway, a big multi level marketing(pyramid) scheme. They tell you you're going to be making all this money, meanwhile the guys at the top are the ones really making the money. First you have to buy the demo set, then they make you bug all your friends and family to buy overpriced knives(?) Sure they're impressive espeially the tone hat smoothly cuts rope and the scissors that cut pennies, but overpriced nonetheless. Who wants to turn their friendships into downlines with that obnoxious sales pitch we alll grew to hate. (l love how they made us practice what we were going to say) they say no cold calls yet they expect to see to everyone you know, ya right. Plus they don;t ccompensate you for gas money or anything. They also 12.00 bucks an hour, no thats 12 buck per presenattion. IMO not worth it.

f**k Vector! I had a job there for a while, sold a set to my mom, they're great knives to have around. The training was alright but I later learned how gay they were. They expect u to put ur heart and soul into their stupid rip off knive s**t. Like I said, they're great knives, don't get me wrong, but no one is prepared to spend that much on kitchen utensils all at once. They expected me to call up everyone I know and hastle them about doing a demo. I didn't want to get wrapped up in this s**t, so I quit. They still call me every once in a while to go to their meetings. It's pathetic how they display fake enthusiasm when they try to get me to go. They're like "word around here is it's gonna be really awesome and we're specifically excited about seeing you... and we're going to notice if you're not there!" f****n b*****s. Okay, now I'm just rambing. In conclusion, Vector is teh suck.
