Hi everybody I'm new here. The biggest issue I'm having right now (other than getting a definitive AS diagnosis) is a work issue.

I've had this job for over a year now. For about 8 months now my boss has had me answer the main office line which I HATE doing, and she has also started having me train guest editors over the phone while she "listens in".

I have extreme phone anxiety...knowing someone is listening to my end of the conversation makes me horrendously anxious, nervous, and causes my mind to go blank.

I am supposed to start doing these phone trainings next week and I would honestly rather quit than go through with it. So my question is...do I finally tell my boss that I have this anxiety? Is it just too late in the game for me to make this announcement?

I'd honestly rather wait until I have a definitive AS diagnosis before bringing any of this up, but it seems the circumstances won't work that way.

Any help/advice you have on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there

The best thing to do is probably to calmly explain that you have phone anxiety. There is no need to tell your boss the whole story, I think being nervous on the phone is very common. Your honesty might be greatly appreciated.

Hope this helps :)
