OK, I applied for a job with a company that works to support people with learning difficulties a couple of months back. It was related to what I did previously and I had the skills to do it. However I was not even shortlisted for an interview. I thought the two ticks policy was designed so that if you meet the minimum requirements you at least get an interview. What;s going on?

By the way I'm AS.

It depends on the the agency to is connected with the job and sometimes the coaches can just introduce the employees to the boss one time and then hire them based on the program. I also bet that some organizations find that interviews might be too hard on employees with developmental disabilities.

In today's economy it might have simply been too many applicants for the job.

Everyone I talk to is getting swamped with resumes for every opening.

I heard from someone they had lawyers applying for a SECRETARIAL position at a law firm.

I'm sure it applies to the disabled as well. You get a college kid taking an unskilled job, and the unskilled is then out of work.

It's important to get in fast. If you see a sign go up, or hear about an opening, do not wait. Apply immediately, ASAP. Often the job simply goes to the first person so they don't have to bother interviewing a whole gang.
