Just wondering, I am one and it might be nice to talk to some other designer-aspies out there. :)

I am! And I am ADHD. That's like half "aspie", I guess. My brother counts for two though. (I don't like the word "aspie". Sounds like something you would call a pet? "I've got two chinchillas, an aspie, and now I am considering a cat.")

I've worked as an interior designer/visual merchandiser for a furniture store. It was my favorite job and allowed a lot of alone time, while being able to be creative and get out of the house. I was thought of as a bit "odd" because I was so quite but I was very happy there. I was laid off due to the economy.

Motion graphics designer, animator and photographer here. Although I'm mostly self trained and it shows some times.

Glad to see some of you out there. :) Those who have jobs, do you work as a freelancers? I did for quite a while, now I got a regular job, but it's not any agency. I think working in an agency and deal with all the people around would stress me out. I am working at a public institution, I have an office that I share with one co-worker, but will be moving to another one, where I'll be on my own. I can cope everything related to my job, but I usually keep distant to everyone when it comes to private things. How do you cope?

Im in Fashion Design..

But am thinking of getting out, or doing freelance.

Typical jobs in fashion corporations are very high stress, pressure, and intense. Dont think I can manage.

I am a freelancer / have my own company right now. But these days there is no work, so I am currently focussing on getting a "regular" job. I guess a regular job would also mean more security in many ways, which would be nice and good for me. I don't like structure, but I know it's very good for me.

I have never wanted to work in an agency. Like you, I'd think dealing with all the people would stress me out, as well as having to work on someone elses designs or ideas, although that depends on the persons and the work they deliver.

Right now I have decided to look for a job as a content manager, since I am good at the technical as well as the information structure stuff, and I keep an eye on the design of course. Besides that one of my traits is that I am good at working with and for both users as wel as developers. The wild design and art stuff I'll just safe for my spare time. I'd like to be able to pay my rent and food...
