Most places tell you to apply online. On the application, tell them everything they want to hear. Even if it's stretching the truth, say it anyway. As long as it's not a provable lie, then say it, and make yourself sound as good as you can. You can't be honest AND perform a job where you rip people off. The application process must be approached the same way. They don't want good workers, they want obedient workers who will do what they are told with minimal effort on their part. So already, AS people are at a disadvantage. Don't dwell on that fact too much, or it will become worse than it actually is. A disadvantage is not the same as a death wish.
The bottom line in any job, in any competition, is that the winner is he/she who wants it more than the others. Whether it's getting a job, a girlfriend, or a Super Bowl ring, the same idea applies. So if you can convince them you want it more, then that's the job you will get. You only need to convince one. Like a girlfriend, only girlfriends get mad if you have more than one.
