Just metaphorically speaking here...what are some ideas that don't involve making art or writing books or whatnot?

Playing poker, putting up a site that's useful (and making sure to properly advertise it)...

There's more, but I can't think of any right at this second (somewhat distracted).

When in urgent need of money, selling old stuff you don't need anymore can help.
Also dump sites are full of stuff that aren't even broken but that people throw away anyway. Like bikes, books, musical instruments etc.

letting other people "rent" your physical or mental facilities for a limited time, i.e.-

servicing others with your physicality/skill when they either can't or won't use their own physicality/skill. examples of this would be doing yard work for other people, moving heavy objects, or other physical tasks such as taxi-ing people back and forth into town for shopping/medical appointments-

OR-

servicing others with your mentality when they either can't or won't use their own mentality. examples of this would be doing paperwork [e.g., completing government forms, helping with homework, et al] for folks too addled to do their own paperwork, or who otherwise couldn't be bothered to do such themselves.

I found some old lead under my house a bucket full, took it to the scrappie last week and got $54. While I was there a guy had cleared up his hedge that was full of 'iron stuff' there was an old engine block and big chains, and axles and stuff rusted to all get-up, and he took that in and got over $250! Admittedly there was 300 Kilos, but still thats the least valuable metal. People take in cans too, any type of metal.

I'm mad that Indiana does not have a recycling program where you can get a deposit for collecting bottles. We were so close to getting it a few years ago too but it got shot down. Stupid state government!

Scrap metal where I live is up to $11 per 100lbs of steel. Copper is always over $3 PER POUND.

Make a site, stick as many ads and affiliate links on it as possible, then drive a crapload of traffic to it. You'll need to pay a bit for the traffic, though.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click) works well as long as you use the right keywords, but you'll need some investment as I said.

I think the main thing to realize is that, even if you don't have a traditional job, you can always work.
