I've been doing the paid blogging type thing, and it's really not something I could live off of. I get paid 1 cent per word and so far they've sent me assignments for like 300 word articles, and my Aspie nature makes me research a bit and put more time into it than I think they expect, so I'm basically making 3 bucks an hour. But I keep doing it for the extra money and I keep telling myself I can have it on a resume. I've been trying to supplement it with some other online ventures like designing t-shirts on cafepress.com. I'm trying to get more into creating fonts and going into illustration.

One thing I thought about doing though is start a non-profit. In the states, I bet the gov't would hook me up with some grant money to provide free training to companies on diversity and customer service. Haha, we so need it out here. I also thought about my local area needing more resources for autism, and I got to thinking maybe something like an agency who advocates children in the school system, assist the school system in setting up autistic programs, providing free training on autism (to anyone including the school system), helping adult aspies find jobs and get passed the autistic barriers, help find employers who are more autistic friendly, and help people get to the resources that currently exist...etc.

Otherwise, I almost suggest looking at your special interests and turning it into a business, but be careful doing that. It's not as fun when you are forced by deadline to delve into it as opposed to just doing your interest on a whim. I'm even realizing my monologues I cannot even do on command. LOL

Some business ideas I've thought about doing in the past, but for whatever reason didn't pursue...
Owning a bridal boutique/florist (I didn't because the woman was asking for too much)
starting a pizza joint (now that I have kids, not wise because you work a lot of hours, and the pay isn't too awesome)
doing home deliveries to any restaurant/groceries/etc. (low start-up, but I would only make money if I were available through my hours of operation and hard to do with kids)
operating a drive-thru carryout (same as above, I'd have to be there a lot)
Owning a bar/night club (Liquor license not easy to get, and you'd want to be there a lot too, but that would be late at night)

I love working with non profits too, but with the job economy the way it is, it isn't so feasible anymore. I am lucky to have a wonderful NT husband who does most of the bread-winning. I also supplement my income by being a personal shopper. I have a client who has agoraphobia and also lives with his mother who has had several surgeries and is now going through cancer treatments. Since they both have a hard time going out, I bring their groceries to them about once every two weeks. I get $40 a trip and also a small gas allowance. I really like doing this and I would like to get more clients as well. This allows me to have my own hours, concentrate on my own interests and most important to me, not have a boss breathing down my neck.

Do you have a special skill, like clay work, sculpture, fiber arts, etc? If you do, start up an Etsy account. They even calculate tax for you, so it's no problem if you ship out of state.
Are you good at photography? Take a class on how to compose good shots, get a camera, and start taking pictures. You can then get a business license and work art fairs. People love to get art for their homes from local artists. The same goes for painting, just insert the correct changes to the formula.
