Sounds like kind of a nonprofessional workplace, or a workplace where the employees are either literally teenagers or have the mindset/maturity level of teenagers.

A fair number of places are this way,

but then, a fair number aren't.

I managed to avoid that when I was working for a small electronics company. I was in my 20's, and the other employee (there were 2 bosses & 2 employees) was a married woman in her late 30's with 3 kids. There was basically nothing in common to talk about, and zero interest in who got laid when, with who, how, etc.

So, I'd guess older, married, or otherwise demographically very mismatched other employees could help. You can never know for sure how people may be, though.

And when was helping someone at a mechanic's garage temporarily, the people there just could not lay off that subject, and not be a-holes/bullies about it. So, I suppose it's more endemic to more macho industries like construction, car mechanics, and so forth.

Seems like there might be a good way to deflect this kind of thing.

'I've been seeing this flight attendant, no actually, it's been six months, haven't found the right woman, taking my time'

NOTE: I can do this if I can of plan in advance. If it catches me off guard, well, it catches me off guard. And some people are just jerks and hardly anything works. And no, I don't like these kind of places either.

That is so unprofessional and rude.
I always tell people I don't want to talk about it and then I refuse to say stuff to them.
