Hi there, I recently received a job offer from a company which I found while browsing Seek. It's from a company called Salute Travel and apparently they specialize in designing vacations to Vietnam. The job title is Processing Assistant, and basically all my job involves is accepting money into my bank account, and then I'm responsible for transferring this money onwards to some accountant in Vietnam via Western Union. And that's it. That's pretty much all the job requires.

Now here's where it all seems a bit shady. Why is it that my employer can't send the money themselves, and requires me to do it for them? I'm getting the feeling that these guys aren't very legit, but I wanted to get some second opinions.

Your young, so heres a bit of advice to keep in mind from here on out. Anytime you get a "job offer" from someone or an organization which you never had contact with its a scam more often than not. One exception might be if they find your resume from a job board or something like that. Even then, do your own background check and make sure they are legit before you respond. Trust your instincts!

This is not simply; probably a scam. It is a classic, well known scam. Steer clear.

Scam. Real businesses would have their own accounts. You receive fake funds which register, but when you wire it out it goes out as real cash, and you're left with having to pay for it when word comes back in a few days that the original funds were fake.

IT's A SCAM!! !

Western Union describes it on their website:

"Employment

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be ‎for multiple reasons such as a signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed ‎to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to ‎send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left ‎responsible.‎
